Riding a motorcycle can be a thrilling and liberating experience, providing a sense of freedom and connection with nature. Meanwhile, psychotherapy offers a safe and supportive space to process emotions, work through challenges, and develop coping skills. By combining these two experiences, individuals can harness the benefits of both to cultivate a deeper sense of self-awareness, resilience, and overall well-being.
One study (link here) found that riding a motorcycle reduces hormonal biomarkers of stress, enhances sensory focus and increases alertness.
I offer a "therapy sandwich". The idea is to interleave 20-minute motorcycle rides with 20-minute therapy sessions. This structure allows riders to clear their minds, process their thoughts and emotions, and then refocus on the ride. The "sandwich" format offers a unique therapeutic experience that combines the thrill of motorcycling with the benefits of psychotherapy.
If you have a motorcycle and would like to work on yourself, I'm offering a unique opportunity to combine the two. We arrange a meeting point, ideally ride from there to a quiet, peaceful location, do 20 - 30 minutes' work, then do the return ride. On rainy days, we can just do an hour's therapy instead.
You must have your own roadworthy motorcycle, insurance and protective clothing.
